Structured Cabling, Power, and Security Under One Contract

Most electrical contractors sub out the data and low-voltage work to a separate vendor. We do not. Our in-house Data Division handles structured cabling, security, access control, and commercial AV alongside the electrical scope. One contract. One schedule. One warranty.

Power and Data, Same Crew

Why It Matters That We Do Cabling In-House

On most commercial projects, the electrical contractor handles power and the structured cabling vendor handles data. That means two contracts, two schedules, two scope-creep risks, two warranties, and finger-pointing between trades when something goes wrong at the seam. The seam is where the problems happen. Power feeds the IDF closet. Conduit pathways need to be coordinated for both lines and cables. Fire-rated penetrations need to be sealed once, not twice.

When the same team installs both, that seam disappears. Our Master Electricians and Certified Data Technicians work side by side from rough-in through final commissioning. Conduit is sized correctly the first time. Cabling is pulled before drywall closes up. The IDF rack arrives the day power is energized, not three weeks later. We deliver this as part of our full commercial electrical scope, alongside commercial lighting and ground-up commercial construction.

That kind of integration is why KeyBank, Bellco Credit Union, the VA Hospital, and the Colorado Department of Transportation have trusted us with their data and electrical work in environments where mistakes are not an option.

Side by Side

Two Vendors vs One Contractor

What changes when power and data come from the same team.
Most Commercial Builds

Two Vendors · Two Schedules

✗ Two separate contracts to negotiate and manage
✗ Coordination meetings to align electrical with cabling install windows
✗ Pathways and conduit sized by one vendor, used by another
✗ Two punch lists, two close-out packages, two warranty calls
✗ Finger-pointing when something at the power-and-data seam fails
✗ Change orders multiply when scope falls between contracts
The Electricians Data Division

One Contract · One Crew · One Warranty

✓ Single contract covering both power and data scope
✓ Conduit sized and pulled by the same crew that runs the cabling
✓ Cabling pulled while walls are still open, not after drywall closes
✓ One punch list, one close-out package, one warranty
✓ Single point of accountability when issues arise
✓ Master Electrician and Certified Data Tech on every walk

Data Division FAQs

Structured Cabling and Low-Voltage FAQs

What is low-voltage electrical work?
Low-voltage work covers systems that operate at 50 volts or less, including data cabling, security, fire alarm interfaces, access control, and audio-visual systems. These systems handle communication and control signals, not high-power electricity. They require their own NEC chapters, separate cabling pathways, and specialized testing.
Do you handle both power and data cabling for new construction?
Yes. That is the core argument for using our Data Division. Our integrated team manages both electrical service and structured cabling installation from the ground up. One contract, one schedule, one warranty. Conduit is sized correctly the first time. Cabling is pulled before drywall closes. The IDF rack is energized when you need it. For ground-up commercial builds, see also our new construction commercial electrical services.
What is the difference between access control and a security system?
Access control manages who can enter or exit specific areas (keycards, keypads, biometric readers, cloud-based credentials). Security systems monitor for and alert on potential intrusions, motion, or unauthorized access. Both are typically integrated for layered protection, and we install both as part of our low-voltage scope.
What types of access systems do you install?
We install commercial-grade keycard, keypad, biometric, and cloud-based access control systems. These integrate with IP camera and alarm systems for layered security. Common deployments include offices, healthcare clinics, financial branches, government facilities, and multi-tenant commercial buildings.
What does commercial AV installation include?
Commercial AV covers conference room audio and video systems, digital displays and signage, intercom and paging, video conferencing setups, and integrated network connectivity. We provide end-to-end installation, structured cabling for video and data, control system programming, and clean cable management.
Do you provide certified testing and documentation?
Yes. Every cable we install is tested with appropriate equipment for the cable type, and the test results are documented and provided as part of the project close-out. Documentation includes labeled patch panels, rack diagrams, as-built drawings, and warranty paperwork delivered to your IT team.
Can you work in occupied or live operational environments?
Yes. A significant portion of our Data Division work happens in live commercial spaces — operating bank branches, occupied office floors, active healthcare environments. We schedule install windows around your operation, work nights and weekends when needed, and our background-checked technicians are trained to operate discretely in sensitive environments.
