🔦 Employee Spotlight: Meredith Evans
Role: “Senior” Vice President of Getting It Done!
Also known as: Mom, Safety Coordinator
Background and Role
What is your role at The Electricians?
“Senior” Vice President of Getting It Done! I also wear the hats of Mom and Safety Coordinator.
How long have you been with the company?
Since its inception.
What made you want to take on your current role?
Being a mom — getting things organized has always been one of my top priorities.
Can you tell us a bit about your background or education?
Before The Electricians was founded by our son, I worked in healthcare, focusing on biofeedback therapy to help people manage health challenges. Along with a colleague, I helped develop a treatment for women with preeclampsia and worked with patients experiencing migraines, hypertension, spinal cord injuries, and closed head trauma.
What drew you to The Electricians in particular?
Tony.
On-the-Job Experience
What does a typical day look like for you?
Now that The Electricians has such a strong, diverse team, my days are spent handling special projects that don’t fall under anyone else’s list. I also organize and staff our home and garden show appearances.
What is your favorite type of job to work on?
Anything that lets me show off our talented team and ensure customers are getting the best we have to offer — all while keeping our crew safe in the field.
What’s the most challenging project you’ve worked on?
Honestly, being the mother of the founder! The “mom” and “employee” roles don’t always blend perfectly.
Do you have a memorable customer story?
We’ve had many memorable customers, but one call stands out as a reminder of how vital electricians are to community safety.
At about 4 a.m., I got a call from a man in a panic. The fire department had just left his home after an electrical fire, and he didn’t know what to do next. English wasn’t his first language, and his fear was real.
Tony rushed to the scene and discovered that the underground cable from the street to the house had caused the issue. He could actually feel the electrical charge through the ground — even with his safety boots on. The damage was extensive, and it took our whole team to rebuild the home.
Fortunately, Roman spoke the same language as the homeowner, which helped calm the family and explain everything clearly.
Thankfully, emergencies like that are rare, but it was a powerful reminder of why skilled, qualified electricians are essential to keeping people safe.
Personal Touch
What do you like to do outside of work?
Spend time with our grandchildren, work on stained and fused glass, and travel.
Do you have any hobbies or special interests?
I love doing anything creative — especially stained glass. One of my favorite projects is recreating photos of family pets in glass and adding a ring so their tags can hang from the piece as a keepsake.
What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
- I played flute in both orchestra and marching band — despite being completely tone-deaf!
- I know all the kings and queens of medieval England and their stories.
- Cooking Italian food with Tony is one of my favorite memories.
